Education is very important to me and my family. Living in NYC with expensive tuition rates, fierce competition for preschool entrance, and then some, Catholic school is an affordable means to ensure your children are never “Left Behind”. As a proud parent of privately schooled children (my pockets will thank me later, hopefully) I was disheartened to learn that Mother Cabrini High School in Washington Heights was closing.
Now there seems to be some things missing as I recently received notice stating tuition rates for 2014-2015 would be reduced… but the latest community meeting January 17, 2014 says otherwise. Sitting on prime property in upper Manhattan with beautiful New Jersey, George Washington, and the Hudson River views, two shakes away from Fort Tryon Park and The Cloisters this t the would be a developers dream come true…
But it’s more than that. It’s about a community… a sisterhood… that my daughter, is a part of. It’s about the wonderful teachers and guidance counselors who helped my daughter receive her scholarship to Cabrini College in King of Prussia. From trips to Cabrini schools in Louisiana, Texas and more to perform community service… to the lunch ladies who served the best high school food (although pricey) ever… to the fitness programs… Drum Corps … the sports teams… lifetime friendships… I can go on.
